arvato Finance recently attended the Direct Response Forum (DRF) which celebrated its 22nd anniversary this year. Hosted in the Sheraton Hotel and Marina in San Diego, California from August 8-10, the Direct Response Forum offered a variety of interesting presentations for payment operations professionals. Amongst others Rónán Gallagher, Product Business Development Manager at arvato Finance, shared his thoughts on “Developing a Global Strategy for Success”. arvato Finance also hosted its traditional Irish Evening event for the fifth time in a row.

This year again the DRF attracted over 500 delegates from leading Customer-Not-Present (CNP) merchants and service providers. The forum provided a variety of educational sessions with valuable information on the latest trends in existing and emerging payment methods. The forum was the perfect opportunity to discuss best practices in credit card operations, fraud detection, cost containment, charge backs, risk management and other related topics.

As part of these discussions Rónán Gallagher, Product Business Development Manager at arvato Finance, gave a presentation on ‘International 101 – Developing a Global Strategy for Success’. He shared the stage with a fellow Irishman Gabe McGloin of Chase Paymentech and an industry partner Oliver Rajic representing First Data. Rónán was able to bring to the presentation arvato Finance’s unique experience of working with global merchants and helping them to avoid the pitfalls of internationalisation. The presentation was very well attended with a high level of engagement from the audience.

An annual highlight of the post conference activities is the arvato Finance Irish Evening, which was held for the fifth time this year at the Dublin Square Pub in the Gaslamp Quarter. Many of arvato Finance’s clients, partners and friends from the industry accepted the invitation. Guests had an opportunity to have a cool Guinness while sharing information about latest trends within the payments and ecommerce businesses and enjoying lively sounds from a traditional Irish band.

The DRF will move to the US East Coast next year as it returns to Boston in August 2012. Boston with its Irish heritage is sure to be an excellent location for another successful arvato Finance Irish night. To get more information on the DRF please visit their website at www.drf.org
